A night away

Back a few weeks ago we decided to have a night away camping. Well, not strictly camping as we were in a lovely little pod. This was in a place called Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire. It has an expanse of parkland and woods covering more than 3,800 acres. Within that are a small camping village, discovery center, cricket pitch, children's soft play center, cycle hire as well as a National Trust house, cafes and gardens. There is lots to do for families.

We wanted to take the boys somewhere where they could run around and have lots of fresh air but without the hassle of us having to put a tent up.

We found this site that had a selection of pods and wigwams. The company has wigwams all over the UK.

'Each of our wonderful heated Wigwam® cabins is fully insulated to keep you warm even in the chill of winter, and our super comfy foam mattresses will ensure the perfect nights sleep.
Double glazed windows open to allow in a cool summer breeze whilst sturdy lockable doors offer you peace of mind when you're out and about having fun. Guaranteed to keep you warm and dry whatever the weather'

When we arrived, we were told that we were the only people booked in for that night. We had the whole site to ourselves. It would have been nice to have another family possibly but the boys still really enjoyed it.  The facilities were great: There was a little shop on site which stayed open for us. The toilet blocks were spotless, and I mean totally spotless. Now I'm a bit funny about about public showers, toilets - I don't care, I will wee anywhere, but showers is another story. I didn't actually use them as we were there for one night but if we were staying longer, I would have been more than happy.

Luckily it was only an hour and a half away. The boys slept on the way there which made nap time very easy.

Fin was the first one to go in and was so excited about sleeping in his 'little house'

Inside there was a U shape seating area with a table in the middle. What you had to do was use the backs of the seats to make the bed by laying it on top of the table.

The little decked area was great for the boys to play on and for sitting relaxing at night.

The beds made up.You also had a further potential bed on the left. On the right was a unit with space for a fridge, shelves and electric points.

Each wigwam also gets a bench!

A family of ducks were staying with us too. Sammy had great delight in chasing them round a tree shouting 'daddy duck!, mummy duck!' The ducks were not to thrilled though!

Not sure what Sammy was doing here!

The weather was really nice on the day that we went so once the boys were in their pajamas they were still able to play outside.

Bed time got a bit exciting for them. But after the whole day out they were tired. What we had to do was the usual get changed, stories, milk and we laid down with them until they fell asleep which was about half an hour ion total.

 Sleepy boys.

After an amazing nights sleep. I'm talking 9pm till 8am, Fins first thought when he woke up was 'outside'. So with the site secure with a car barrier, we could let them run free. We took their scuttle bugs too.

Al together this was a really nice night away. I would 100% recommend this site to other people. It would be great if you had a group as the wigwams would sleep a family of five or 4 adults. You are allowed fires too as long as they are contained. You would need to take everything for camping apart from a tent, like sleeping bags and I would definitely say bed sheets or blankets.

I want to try a different site now so will be looking into another trip very soon. x
